Weddings at the Electric Palace, Dorset.
If you’ve ever dreamt of a movie star wedding, the Electric Palace could be just the place you’re looking for. The cameras will be ready to roll as you both walk down the red carpet for your premiere occasion.
The Palace’s beautifully restored 1920s interior radiates retro glamour but this is also a 21st century venue so you can both be in the spotlight, channelling your inner diva on stage.
They can even provide your very own ‘director’ who will create sound and lighting for your celebration, plus organise screenings – a specially made wedding ‘trailer’ perhaps, or even a pre- filmed version of the best man’s speech! And you can dance the night away with your favourite movie as a backdrop.
Here are more details about what the Electric Palace can offer you:
What size wedding is possible at the Electric Palace?
Weddings at the Palace have varied from 80 to 300 guests.
What kind of reception can we have?
Arriving at the Electric Palace down the red carpet, you can greet your friends and family in the 1920s Electric Palace foyer bar, with its comfy red velvet chairs and sofas (plus mini cinema screen). In the main cinema auditorium, dine beneath huge murals (including one of King Kong) before taking to the dance floor. The stage is all yours: a rock n’ roll night? a ukulele band? string orchestra? Whatever you’re into, the place is yours to enjoy until the early hours. The Palace still has rows of its original cinema seats and a balcony, so guests can watch the show in style. There’s even a bar in the auditorium!
Does the Electric Palace have a civil licence?
Unfortunately, we don’t have a civil licence but there is a pretty registry office in a Georgian building within walking distance from the Electric Palace. There are also two churches in town (again, walkable to the Palace), including the historic Chapel in the Garden, both of which would consider conducting your ceremony. More details on their supplier info which they can send on request.
What accommodation is available?
They have a ‘sister’ organisation called Symondsbury Manor, a self catering house with 11 bedrooms which can sleep up to 23 (www.symondsbury.com). Combining the Palace with Symondsbury Manor for your wedding gives you the best of both worlds – movie glamour and traditional English country house! In addition, there are plenty of b&bs, small hotels and camp sites (with stunning views) in and around Bridport and Lyme Regis, so lots of accommodation options for guests.
The cost of day’s hire of the Electric Palace from 9am to midnight is just £2500
The cost of day’s hire of the Electric Palace PLUS weekend hire of Symondsbury Manor accommodation for 23 people £4,500
