Rydal Mount, elegant and romantic, perfect for a more intimate wedding ceremony. A truly idyllic setting for you and your wedding party to enjoy. The ceremony takes place in the drawing room overlooking the beautifully landscaped gardens and a view of Lake Windermere, a memorable setting for your precious photographs.

The family home of one of England’s most loved poets William Wordsworth can be yours exclusively to celebrate your special day.

HOUSE The house dates from the 16th century, although was enlarged over the intervening centuries, and even by Wordsworth himself. It contains a selection of the family’s prized possessions and portraits.

GARDEN Wordsworth was a keen landscape gardener and the five acre garden remains very much as he designed it. It consists of fell-side terraces, rock pools and an ancient mound.

TEAROOM Located during the Summer in what was originally the saddlery over the coach house, The Tearoom serves a selection of homemade cakes and fair trade drinks.

This is a much less-known part of Wordsworth's story, despite him completing Daffodils here and living in the house for 37 years until his death. The house remains in Wordsworth's family and perhaps for that reason feels somewhat 'amateur' as a tourist attraction. Nonetheless, the public part of the house remains virtually unchanged from Wordsworth's time, with little details such as pictures and pieces of furniture catching the eye. The view from his desk is also memorable.

The lovely home and gardens of Wordsworth, with paid parking and a seperate tea house. Spent the afternoon walking through the five acres of garden seton a hilltop

Nice cafe, but the house isn't worth paying for. There are larger free gardens across the road in Rydal Hall.

Very rude women working in Cafe refused to serve us as we had dogs. We have visited this cafe for the previous 7 years and had no problem either sitting with the dogs in the garden or when it was raining we were allowed to sit inside. She even refused to let us use the toilets as we had not paid to visit the house.

My favourite Lakeland walk - midway stop for coffee & cake. Have a wander around the outdoor fabric artwork....
