Durham Castle is a popular venue for wedding receptions in the North East. The impressive Great Hall can hold wedding breakfasts of up to 200 guests, offering them arrival drinks in the stunning, well presented, Courtyard of the Castle or in the historic surroundings of the Tunstall Gallery. For smaller occasions the Senate Room can take up to 40 guests offering a more intimate feel to the day.
Durham Castle has two Suites, the Bishop's Suite (offered to the bride and groom) and the Chaplain's Suite. There are also another 47 en suite bedrooms and 29 standard bedrooms which can be available for all of the wedding party.
The staff at Durham Castle work hard to prepare for that special day and will do all they can to ensure the Bride and Groom have a great start to married life. Whatever style of wedding, Durham Castle is happy to help create the perfect day.

Durham Castle offers a spectacular venue in which to host a wedding that you and your loved ones will never forget. On Sunday 4th January, Event Durham will be opening the doors to this World Heritage site, to give couples a chance to view this outstanding venue first hand.
Guests will be able to explore the many rooms available to a wedding party. In addition, the spectacular Great Hall, will have tables dressed as they could be on your special day.
To help ensure your wedding day dreams come true, we will also be bringing together a unique collection of leading wedding experts to help you make those important decisions. You'll find everything you need for your special day including dresses, cakes, stationary, flowers, photography and lots of things you haven't even thought of yet.
