Myself and my bridesmaids booked an appointment here on 11th November, we booked the last available slot (1pm) and organised our day round this appointment and I could not wait to get there.
With a name of Brides of Chester; you expect first class experience and setting. Unfortunately we got neither of these. On arrival we were told that they were running behind, there were three changing areas and "stages" where two brides were trying on dresses. We were told to add yellow tags to dresses that I liked and once they had time, the selected ones I could try on. The staff in the meantime were rushed (yes it was a busy Saturday afternoon) however instead of acknowledging this and apologising for the chaos, we very much felt in the way whilst they were supporting other brides and grabbing dresses. The staff were whispering to each other and from what we could gather these whispers were snidely- it certainly did not feel like a bridal shop. Once we made our way upstairs, a very nice and helpful woman helped and collected my dresses. However when we went down to collect the dresses, additional tags were added to dresses that I did not select. This added to the chaos as I only picked 3 yet at least 7 now had yellow tags on.
Needless to stay, I didn't find the dress and we all left the shop deflated - we all commented on how rude the staff were (apologies I wish I knew the name of the very nice younger one). The rest of the staff were just rude and made us all collectively feel very unwelcome.
The shop is very much like walking into a high street clothes store, I'm not a high maintenance person at all but I do think part of the wedding dress shopping experience is feeling special for that one day - this isn't the same when you are sharing this with 2 other brides and 2 other groups of people. The shoes that they lent to try on dresses were also old and tatty which didn't help.
Thankfully we had another appointment booked in a local shop in Chester which reaffirmed our views on Brides of Chester - we were well looked after from the minute we arrived in the shop and I'm sure this helped me make the decision to buy THE dress elsewhere.

DON’T BE FOOLED BY THE PROFESSIONAL APPEARANCE!!!
We got married in May this year, it was a destination wedding and I chose my dress at Brides Of Chester around 10 months prior. I will begin with the positive....when I ordered my dress I couldn’t have been happier, the staff were friendly enough, shop was clean and tidy and there was a good selection of dresses to try. I made the mistake of thinking this made buying a dress perfect which was really far from the truth! My dress came in to the shop at the end of January and I confirmed to the shop that it needed to be ready prior to the 22nd May as we were flying out to Florida, 3 and a half months for fittings you would think was more than adequate. My only gripe at this stage was that they had no days / times outside normal working hours (apparently they don’t do fittings on a weekend) so I had to take holidays. I had my first fitting and the dress they had ordered was miles too big, it didn’t fit anywhere and I know that it is better to be bigger to allow the seamstress to take it in but it was ridiculous, I also know that people lose weight but my weight and size never changed. I was told that after my first fitting I would probably need one more then it would just need to be collected which was fine. I turned up to my second fitting and the dress fitted even worse than before the seamstress hacked away at it, they had shortened the straps far too much (and actually cut and disposed of the material so it couldn’t be reversed) to the point where it was now cutting into my arms, they had put what they called a running stitch at a stupid angle which made the top sit right away from my chest. At this point they suggested that I needed to buy a strapless, backless bra that they could sew in. I left hating my dress and wondering what the hell was going to happen next, not what any bride should feel! My third fitting came around quickly, I took the new bra with me and tried the dress again but still it didn’t fit, it now had no shape around my waist as they had let it out for some reason! Again I left utterly disappointed and was rapidly losing faith that the shops seanstresses had any idea how to alter a dress! I was promised that by my next appointment everything would be fixed and fine, stupidly I trusted these ‘experts’. My final fitting came when I collected my dress on Saturday 20th May, 2 days before our flight and the dress was worse than ever, they had made a complete hash of the body, ruined the straps and sewn the bra into completely the wrong place. The staff were rude at this point and unhelpful, they told me that they couldn’t do anything as they didn’t have a seamstress in on a Saturday, advised that I could go into Chester and try and buy yet another bra and didn’t even apologise. As you can imagine I was devastated, stressed beyond belief and after me having to contact a decent seamstress myself while standing in the shop to fix it over the weekend they offered to refund me for the alterations to the body only.... they are a complete joke of a shop and I would advise anyone and everyone I know against stepping foot in that shop unless you are prepared to be massively let down and ripped off. I was lucky that I found a seamstress who was literally my fairy godmother, she worked tirelessly all weekend to fix my dress and couldn’t believe how much she had to unpick and stitch back together and funnily enough the bra wasn’t required once it was fitted correctly! Please please please don’t waste your time, your money or such a happy experience on these cowboys, it’s not worth the hassle, there are some beautiful shops out there with some amazingly talented seamstresses, Brides Of Chester isn’t one of them!! I believe the review function has been disabled on their website and social media pages, I wonder why!

This was the first place i actually looked at for Wedding Dresses i seen one but decided to have a look round some more bridal shops, after visiting other shops i did not even try them on as the one i seen in Brides Of Chester i knew that was the one. The other reason i decided to go here was the Excellent customer care from the owner and staff they made me and my mum feel so welcome and at ease there was no pressure to buy and they as much as myself wanted to make sure i had the right dress for my wedding day. I can not thank them enough and i would highly recommend Brides Of Chester because of them i had the perfect Wedding Day.
